Data Collection:
a.
An official collection
survey form will be used to collect data for the Database. Items marked as
“required” on the form must be completed in order for the entry to be accepted
for inclusion into the Database. It is strongly recommended that all items on
the form be completed to the greatest extent possible.
i.
Required items are
those needed for proper processing of the entry and include the following:
1.
Name and contact
information for person submitting information.
2.
Dog’s name.
3.
Sex of the dog.
4.
Dog’s registration
number if available.
b.
Data submitted for
entry into the database should come from official documents or pedigrees from
recognized registries, such as the U.K.C. or other similar international
registries for Kangal Dogs, whenever available. Copies of these official
documents must be submitted at the time of data entry.
c.
Entries for dogs not
accompanied by an official pedigree will be accepted under the following
conditions:
i.
Entries will be
identified as “Unregistered”.
ii.
Entries must come from
the legal owner of the dog but may include data on other dogs that are in its
lineage.
iii.
Entries are accompanied
by supporting information that satisfies the UKC Single Registration process and
are approved by the KDCA Health and Genetics Committee.
iv.
Dogs are assigned a
special Database registration number to identify them.
v.
Entries not meeting the
above criteria may be accepted, but will be included in the Database at the
discretion of the Database Administrator, Health and Genetics Committee, and
KDCA Board of Directors, and these entries must be identified as “Unverified
Data”.
d.
Entries for deceased
dogs are encouraged as well. The entry process for these dogs shall conform to
the criteria for living dogs.
e.
Health data submitted
for entry into the database must come from official medical reports in all
cases. Undocumented health data will not be accepted. Copies of reports must
be submitted at the time of data entry. Submittal of additional health data
is encouraged at any time with copies of official reports.
f.
The acceptance or
refusal of data entries is subject to the evaluation of the entry and
recommendations made by the Database Administrator and confirmed by a vote of
the KDCA Health and Genetics Committee.
2.
